Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali has secured a spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings’ top five bowlers, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday.
Ali’s remarkable performance in the two-match Test series against West Indies played a crucial role in his rise up the rankings. He made history by becoming the fifth Pakistani bowler to claim a Test hat trick, finishing the series with 16 wickets across both matches.
“He is currently the top-ranked spinner in the format after taking 16 wickets across two Tests vs West Indies,” the PCB said in a statement.
India’s Jasprit Bumrah holds the top spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings, followed by Australia’s Pat Cummins, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, and Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood.
Pakistan won the first Test in Multan by 127 runs, while the West Indies secured a historic victory in the second Test by 120 runs, leveling the series 1-1. This marked the West Indies’ first Test win in Pakistan in nearly 35 years, with their last victory on Pakistani soil occurring in Faisalabad in 1990.
