The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a 2.72% reduction in the prices of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) for consumers of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL). The new rates are effective from December 1, 2024.
For consumers of SSGCL, RLNG prices will decrease by 1.99%. Specifically:
- SNGPL customers will see a reduction of $0.3612 per mmbtu, bringing the price down from $13.2609 to $12.8997 per mmbtu.
- SSGCL customers will experience a $0.2550 decrease, reducing the price from $12.8005 to $12.5456 per mmbtu.
These price adjustments reflect the procurement of 12 RLNG cargos imported via Pakistan State Oil and Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL). Of this supply, 6,395,000 mmbtu will be allocated to K-Electric, while 5,000 mmbtu will be provided to SNGPL.
Gas Availability Figures
- SNGPL: 30,794,703 mmbtu available at the transmission stage, with 28,299,271 mmbtu at the distribution stage.
- SSGCL: 31,361,449 mmbtu at the transmission stage and 26,293,438 mmbtu at distribution.
Despite the price cut, domestic consumers across Pakistan continue to report issues with low gas pressure, a challenge that remains unresolved during the winter season.
This RLNG price reduction is expected to provide some relief to industrial and commercial consumers, while highlighting the ongoing need to address gas supply concerns for househ
