Muzaffarabad – 22 April 2025:
A high-profile delegation led by Yousef Mohammad Saleh Al-Dobeay, the Special Representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Jammu and Kashmir, paid a significant visit to Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), as part of an ongoing diplomatic effort to assess the situation in the region.
The delegation, which included senior officials from the OIC, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, and representatives from NUML University, undertook a series of engagements highlighting the humanitarian and political aspects of the Kashmir issue.
Prior to arriving in Muzaffarabad, the team held key discussions with senior military officials in Murree, where they were presented with a comprehensive briefing on alleged human rights violations committed by Indian forces in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
In Muzaffarabad, the delegation visited refugee camps and vocational training centers, meeting with displaced Kashmiris who shared their stories of struggle and resilience. The visitors expressed admiration for Pakistan’s ongoing support and initiatives for the welfare and rehabilitation of Kashmiri refugees, including education and skill development programs.
Al-Dobeay thanked the Government of Pakistan and military leadership for facilitating the visit and praised the systematic arrangements made to present the ground realities in Azad Kashmir.
Speaking during the visit, he reiterated the OIC’s firm support for the rights of the Kashmiri people, drawing parallels with the organization’s longstanding commitment to the Palestinian cause. The delegation pledged to raise its voice internationally against human rights violations in all occupied territories, reaffirming the collective solidarity of the Muslim world.
The visit marks a strong diplomatic gesture from the OIC and signals continued international interest in the Kashmir conflict, amid growing concerns over civil liberties and humanitarian conditions in the region.
