According to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, our economy cannot grow with high electricity tariffs, so we must replace power plants that use more expensive fuel, which affects our people and results in cyclical debt.
The Prime Minister announced in a tweet today that he inaugurated a programme to solarize 100,000 tube wells yesterday as part of the government’s groundbreaking solarisation goal of generating 10,000 MW to replace costly thermal power.
According to the Prime Minister, solarizing tube wells will give farmers inexpensive electricity and increase domestic agricultural produce, leading to food self-sufficiency.
He believes that exploiting our enormous solar and hydel energy resources is the long-term solution.
The Prime Minister stated that solarization is a priority and that 377 billion rupees will be spent on the solarization of tube wells.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that the coalition management prioritised hydropower development over solar, nuclear, and coal power projects.
According to the Prime Minister, we have offered our fraternal country, Saudi Arabia, an investment in the multipurpose Diamer Basha Dam.
