Shan Masood, a left-handed batter, has been selected as vice-captain of the Pakistan ODI side for the New Zealand series.
After almost four years away, Shan, who participated in an ODI match against Australia in 2019, will play again in a white-ball match.
Shan will serve as Babar’s backup during the home ODI series against New Zealand, which begins on January 9, because usual vice-captain Shadab Khan will be out due to injury.
Shadab Khan, who had an index finger injury last week, will not be available, hence Shan Masood has been selected vice-captain of the men’s team for the three One-Day Internationals against New Zealand, according to a statement from PCB.
After suffering an injury during the Big Bash League, Shadab returned to Pakistan (BBL). For the Hobart Hurricanes, he played in five games, scoring 58 runs and grabbing seven wickets. His finger injury caused him to miss the sixth game.
