Shaza Fatima Khawaja, State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, praised Pakistan’s placement in the top tiers of a worldwide cybersecurity index on Friday.
According to the International Telecommunication Union’s Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 study, Pakistan was placed in Tier 1.
Tier 1, the highest of the five tiers and classified as “role-modeling,” includes countries with scores ranging from 95 to 100, covering 46 nations. In the last edition of the Global Cybersecurity Index report, Pakistan was ranked 79th.
Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad on Friday, Khawaja stated that the report identified Pakistan’s legal, technical, capacity development, skill development, and organizational growth as role models.
Pakistan did exceptionally well in the most recent rating, landing in Tier 1 among countries such as the United States, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia.
