Pakistan and Azerbaijan have agreed to expand bilateral trade and cooperate in a variety of fields, including energy and defence.
Following a joint news conference, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met in Baku, and the President of Azerbaijan indicated that an MoU will be signed to increase trade and collaboration.
He stated that several Azerbaijani delegations will be visiting Pakistan soon. He stated that one delegation will talk about trade and investment promotion, the second will address energy cooperation, and the third will explore defence collaboration.
According to Ilham Aliyev, we have agreed to expand the number of flights between the two countries capitals.
He stated that we see a lot of potential in education. He wished to see more Pakistani students studying in Azerbaijani educational institutions. He stated that the Azeri young who studied in Pakistan are making significant contributions to our progress.
According to Ilham Aliyev, all parties have discussed defence cooperation and agreed to increase the number of military drills. He stated that a robust military capability ensures independence and territorial integrity.
According to Azerbaijan’s President, both countries have always stood shoulder to shoulder. He stated that our people hold the same ideas as the leaders.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on the occasion that the two sides have perfect agreement on all bilateral and international issues. He stated that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have a fraternal relationship built on mutual trust, respect, and sincerity of purpose.
The Prime Minister stated that our long-standing relationships do not reflect their density in terms of commerce and investment, exchange of visits, and collaboration in other areas. He stated that both parties want to strengthen their relationship.
He stated that the two countries have a lot of potential for collaboration in the field of energy and petroleum products. He stated that Pakistan has significant potential in solar energy and that we look forward to working together in this area.
The Prime Minister thanked Azerbaijan for extending the facility to increase Pakistani rice imports. He also stated that we welcome Azeri Airlines to begin operations between Baku and Islamabad. He informed Azerbaijan that Pakistan will work closely with them to fulfil the goals established for cooperation in various fields.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that Azerbaijan has always been a firm supporter of Kashmiri brothers and sisters who have endured Indian crimes and terrorism over the years. He stated that Pakistan is equally dedicated to Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. He stated that Azerbaijani military have heroically fought for Azerbaijan’s rights.
