Pakistan has secured third spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings, surpassing Australia. This follows Australia’s 26-run defeat in the second game of the five-match series against Sri Lanka, which caused them to lose position in the rankings.
Previously, Pakistan had improved their ranking with a clean sweep of the three-match series against West Indies, which helped them to dethrone India and jump to fourth position.
The ICC MRF Tyres Men’s One Day Batter rankings have been updated, with Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq surpassing India veteran Virat Kohli to join team-mate Babar Azam at the top.
New Zealand remains in first place with 125 points, followed by England with 124 rating points. However, both Kangaroos and India have slipped to fourth and fifth place, respectively.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Imam scored three half-centuries during Pakistan’s recent ODI series at home against the West Indies.
His form was duly rewarded as he won the Player of the Series award and made a move on the latest rankings that were released on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old jumped a massive 20 rating points to move in front of Kohli and now has a career best mark of 815 rating points.
