Inzamam ul Haq, the Chief Selector of the Pakistan cricket team, resigned from his position during the 2023 World Cup after allegations of a “conflict of interest.” The cricket board has officially confirmed his resignation on Monday.
“People speak without research. Questions were raised on me so I decided that it was better I resign,” Inzamam said
It has been reported that a player management company, in which Inzamam is reportedly a partner, has been registered with the PCB. This company includes other notable players like Mohammad Rizwan, who is also a partner, and Babar Azam. This association has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest, as it could be seen as an entity involved in securing contracts for players.
This development has occurred during a turbulent period for the Pakistan cricket team, which is facing criticism and potential elimination from the World Cup in India. Additionally, the PCB has been embroiled in controversy due to the leaking of a private conversation between skipper Babar Azam and a high-ranking board official.
In his statement, Inzamam vehemently denied any connection to the player-agent company and urged the PCB to conduct a thorough investigation before making baseless allegations.
