The Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar is set to admit its first patients, marking a significant milestone in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Established as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations, the hospital was initiated in 2020. Zhou Wenwei, Chief Consultant of Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital, emphasized the historical ties between China and Pakistan, stating that the Belt and Road Initiative prompted Chinese investment in the hospital to benefit the local population.
The 150-bed facility, funded by China’s commerce ministry at an estimated cost of $30.5 million, is equipped with modern facilities and advanced medical technology. It aims to provide high-quality healthcare services to residents of Gwadar and the surrounding areas, addressing previous limitations in essential healthcare services. The hospital covers an area of eight acres and is expected to contribute to the local economy by generating employment opportunities and supporting socioeconomic development.
