The Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Kistafin, announced that direct flights between Kazakhstan and Pakistan would begin in May 2023, boosting economic connectivity and people-to-people contacts between the two nations.
The direct flights between Lahore and Almaty would also promote tourism, further advancing the countries’ relations.
The ambassador said being a gateway to Central Asia, Peshawar was very important for mutual trade between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. There was a need to further strengthen the economic and trade relations between Peshawar and the areas of Central Asia.
Business communities and chambers could enhance bilateral trade relations, and both countries’ tourism industries have significant potential. Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region and Pakistan’s Northern Areas are among the most beautiful regions in the world, and events will be held to promote tourism in Kazakhstan-Turkestan.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will play its due role in strengthening economic and trade ties between the two countries. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was close to the Central Asian states, due to which they had some cultural compatibility. “We have centuries-old relations with Central Asia and trade caravans used to travel between the two regions.”
