The Pakistani government is exploring the possibility of adjusting petrol prices on a weekly basis instead of every 15 days. OGRA, the organization responsible for this, is in talks with petrol dealers and oil companies to gather input on the proposed change.
The caretaker government has reached out to all stakeholders, asking for their opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of shifting to a weekly pricing mechanism.
However, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has expressed disagreement with the new strategy, arguing that revising petrol prices every week is not practical.
Previously, under Imran Khan’s leadership, the government had transitioned from a monthly pricing system to a bi-monthly one to prevent losses in the oil industry.
Now, there is a reconsideration, but not everyone is on board with the potential change.
