ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy’s PNS Shamsheer participated in a bilateral exercise with the UK Royal Navy’s Ship Lancaster in the Gulf of Oman this week, aimed at strengthening regional maritime security and enhancing cooperation between the two navies.
According to state media, the exercise was designed to improve coordination and demonstrate the ability of both forces to conduct joint operations. PNS Shamsheer is currently deployed on a regional maritime security patrol in the Gulf of Oman.
The Pakistan Navy plays an active role in anti-piracy and counter-narcotics operations in the Indian Ocean as part of the Combined Maritime Forces. The navy’s statement highlighted its continued presence in the Indian Ocean to monitor national and international sea lines of communication and collaborate with regional and global partners in fostering collective security efforts.
