Pakistan Navy Ships (PNS) Shamsheer and Haibat arrived at Mina Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi, UAE, to participate in the Nasl Al Bahr naval exercise, according to a statement from the Pakistan Navy on Saturday.
Upon their arrival, the ships were welcomed by senior UAE Navy officials and Pakistan’s defense attaché. Commodore Shahid Wasif, the mission commander, and commanding officers of the two ships met with Brigadier Abdullah Faraj Al Muhairi, deputy commander of the UAE Navy. Discussions focused on mutual interests and the strengthening of bilateral ties. The modalities for the joint exercise were also reviewed.
The Nasl Al Bahr exercise aims to enhance interoperability, improve operational readiness, and further consolidate strong relations between the two navies.
During their stay, the ships were visited by UAE’s Assistant Minister for Security and Maritime Affairs, Salem Saeed Al-Jabri, Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, as well as senior UAE armed forces personnel and members of the Pakistani community. Students and visitors from the Pakistani expatriate community showed great enthusiasm during their tour of the ships. Officers from both navies participated in cross-visits and joint sports activities to foster camaraderie.
The UAE is Pakistan’s third-largest trading partner and hosts over a million Pakistani expatriates, making it a crucial source of remittances for Pakistan.
