Noor Zaman, Farhan Mehboob, and Nasir Iqbal emerged victorious in their respective matches against Chinese opponents, ensuring Pakistan’s unbeaten run in Pool C, which also included South Korea, Chinese Taipei, and China.
Yesterday, Pakistan had a strong start to the tournament, beating Chinese Taipei 3-0 and South Korea 2-1. Nasir Iqbal, Asim Khan, and Noor Zaman secured wins against Taipei, while Nasir Iqbal and Noor Zaman triumphed over Korea, with Asim Khan being the only Pakistani player to lose a match.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for tomorrow, with Pakistan’s opponent yet to be determined. The Pakistani team is being coached by the experienced Fahim Gul, who is determined to lead the national side to a gold medal victory.
Historically, Pakistan is the most successful team in the Asian Men’s Team Squash Championship, having won 15 gold medals. However, their last victory in the event was in 2016. India, the defending champions, claimed the title in 2022 in South Korea.
