Pakistan Railways has announced the revival of the ‘Safari Tourist Train’ to showcase the culture and beauty of the Potohar Region. The journey will commence from Islamabad’s historic Golra Station and culminate at Attock Khurd.
The Safari Train will embark on its journey from Golra Station, passing through notable stops like Hasan Abdal, Attock, and Attock Khurd Railway stations. Attock Khurd, home to the oldest railway museum, holds a rich historical legacy, offering travelers a glimpse into the region’s past.
The initiative aims to promote tourism and highlight the railway’s heritage. The Safari Train will traverse the old iron girder bridge on the Indus River, offering passengers picturesque views of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
Golra Station, steeped in British-era history, features the sprawling Islamabad Railway Museum, boasting a collection of railway artifacts. After the heritage tour, passengers will have the chance to explore the attractions along the Indus River at Attock Khurd’s Station.
The Safari Train has undergone extensive refurbishment, boasting meticulously designed interiors, onboard cuisine, and high tea arrangements. Luxurious seating and modern amenities ensure passengers’ comfort. Preparations are in the final stages, with departures scheduled every Sunday and special discounts available for students.
