During the initial eight months of the financial year 2023-24, Pakistan Railways (PR) has marked a historic increase in revenue, reaching Rs50 billion. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan Railways, Aamir Baloch, highlighted this achievement, emphasizing the significant growth compared to the previous year’s income of Rs32 billion.
CEO Baloch commended the dedication of Pakistan Railways workers and expressed optimism that the revenue could potentially reach Rs80 billion by the conclusion of FY2023-24.
In a separate initiative, Pakistan Railways is in the process of finalizing a plan to procure 230 passenger coaches and 820 High Capacity Wagons under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). This initiative aims to enhance train speed and ensure adherence to fixed schedules.
An official from the Ministry of Railways revealed, “Out of the total, approximately 46 Completely-Built-Up (CBU) passenger coaches have already been procured, while the remaining 184 will be manufactured domestically. These coaches will be capable of traveling at a speed of 160 km/h.”
