Pakistan Railways has added high-capacity freight wagons to its fleet.
According to details, 40 high-capacity wagons, locally manufactured with the assistance of Chinese technology, have been inducted into the Pakistan Railways fleet. The induction ceremony was inaugurated by CEO of Pakistan Railways, Aamir Baloch.
These high-capacity wagons, designed to meet international standards, are capable of transporting loads of up to 70 tonnes at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
Aamir Baloch announced that an additional 820 wagons will be inducted into the railways’ fleet by the end of the fiscal year 2025-26. The local production of these freight wagons will help save foreign reserves and is expected to increase revenue by Rs9 billion annually.
