Seventy state-of-the-art modern wagons of freight trains for Pakistan Railways will arrive in Karachi from China on January 16.
A total of 130 wagons will be added to the railway system in March of this year, the Pakistan Railways Spokesperson said. According to the spokesman, the trend of freight movement by railroads will increase with the introduction of modern wagons into the system.
According to the spokesperson, the deal on the transfer of technology will allow Pakistan to produce 620 wagons, saving the country money and creating jobs.
According to the spokesperson, the addition of brand-new wagons will boost Pakistan Railways’ earnings by 1.5 billion dollars. She said that while old wagons can travel at a top speed of 80 km/h and can carry 60 tonnes of weight, new wagons can travel at a top speed of 100 km/h and can carry 70 tonnes.
It is important to note that the authorities were instructed to submit a five-year long-term business plan before the supreme court by the Federal Minister of Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique.
According to Details Saad Rafique, minister of railways presided over the high-level meeting at which the directions were given. The Secretary of the Railway, Additional Secretary, and Secretary Railway Board, among others, were present at the meeting.
The federal minister stated during the meeting that Pakistan Railways’ overall performance will definitely improve as a result of the Supreme Court’s order.
“The ministry has started working on a long-term and comprehensive business plan for land management, which will be based on the principle of transparency and merit,” he added.
