The Pakistani government announced a Rs10 per liter reduction in petrol prices, bringing the new rate to Rs249.10 per liter, effective immediately. High-speed diesel prices have also been lowered by Rs13.06 to Rs249.69 per liter, according to a notification from the Finance Division.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) based the new prices on international market fluctuations, adjusting rates every fortnight. The reduction is expected to provide some relief to Pakistanis struggling with inflation.
Petrol is primarily used in private transport and smaller vehicles, while diesel is crucial for heavy transport, significantly impacting the prices of essential goods. Kerosene oil and light diesel oil prices have also been reduced by Rs11.15 and Rs12.12 per liter, respectively.
