The Pakistani street child team has advanced to the knockout stage of the Norway Cup, which is currently taking place in Oslo.
Pakistan defeated Skjold IL 2-0 on Tuesday, their third consecutive triumph. The winning team’s goals were scored by Ahmad Raza and captain Tufail Shinwari.
On Thursday, the Green Shirts will meet Molde FK in the first round of the knockout stage.
Pakistan began the competition with two consecutive wins, defeating Rvoll IL 2-1 and Frigg Oslo FK 11-1.
On Tuesday, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Norway, Saadia Altaf Qazi, met with the Pakistan team. On this occasion, she praised the team’s performance in the competition thus far.
Pakistan is competing in the Norway Cup under the auspices of Muslim Hands, a charity organisation in Pakistan, and is hence known as Muslim Hands FC.
The tournament features 2,350 teams and over 30,000 players competing in several competitions.
It should be mentioned that Pakistan finished second in the Street Child World Cup in Doha last year. They were unbeaten throughout the tournament but lost on penalties to Egypt (4-3).
They were also runners-up in the previous tournament in Russia (2018), and third in Brazil (2014).
