Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has articulated Pakistan’s strong desire to deepen and enhance bilateral cooperation with Oman, particularly in the sectors of trade, investment, energy, and defense. This was conveyed during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Al Kharusi, who paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister in Islamabad today.
In their discussion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the close and brotherly ties that Pakistan and Oman share, grounded in a rich history, shared faith, and cultural connections. He expressed gratitude to Ambassador Al Kharusi for facilitating a trade and investment delegation’s visit to Pakistan scheduled for next week. The Prime Minister assured the Ambassador that the relevant Pakistani authorities would provide full support to the delegation, aiming for mutually beneficial outcomes from this visit.
Addressing recent tragic events, Prime Minister Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Imambargah Ali bin Abu Talib in the Wadi Kabir district of Muscat. This heinous act resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including four Pakistani nationals, and left over thirty others injured, most of whom were also Pakistanis. The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and lauded Oman’s prompt response and cooperation with the Pakistani mission in repatriating the bodies and treating the injured.
Prime Minister Sharif underscored Pakistan’s long-standing struggle against terrorism and offered Pakistan’s full support to Oman in combating this menace. He emphasized that terrorism must be eradicated in all its forms and assured Oman of Pakistan’s readiness to assist in these efforts.
Ambassador Al Kharusi reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to further enhancing trade and investment relations with Pakistan. He expressed optimism about the upcoming delegation’s visit and the potential for significant progress in bilateral economic ties.
The meeting underscored the importance of continued collaboration and mutual support between Pakistan and Oman, reflecting a shared commitment to peace, stability, and economic growth in the region.
