Pakistan’s white-ball squads for the upcoming series against Australia are expected to be revealed next week, with sources indicating that Mohammad Rizwan is being considered for the captaincy role.
Insiders suggest that the selection committee favors Rizwan to lead the side, but the final decision will rest with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, following discussions with the selectors and other officials.
In terms of squad composition, fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain, who last played an ODI in 2023, is likely to make a return after impressing selectors with his performances in the recent Champions Cup and President’s Cup. All-rounder Aamir Jamal and wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah are also under consideration for selection in the white-ball squad for the Australian tour.
The teams will face off in the second ODI on November 8 at Adelaide Oval, followed by the third match on November 10 at Perth Stadium. After the ODI series, Pakistan will challenge Australia in a three-match T20 series, scheduled between November 14 and 18.
The first T20 will take place on November 14 at The Gabba in Brisbane, with the second match on November 16 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), and the final game on November 18 at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Earlier this week, Cricket Australia announced their 14-member squad for the ODI series against Pakistan, which begins on November 4 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. With Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head unavailable due to paternity leave, Pat Cummins has been named captain. Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short have been selected as openers.
