Bismah Maroof, Pakistani Women Cricket team skipper, has achieved another milestone in her T20 international career.
She has attained a historic feat by becoming the first Pakistani skipper to complete 1000 T20I runs. She set the record while playing against Barbados at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Bismah, however, could not play to her potential in the match, resulting in a 15-run defeat for Pakistan women against Barbados women in their opening match at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Friday.
In pursuit of a target of 145, Pakistan lost four wickets when they had only 49 runs on the board. Iram Javed (out first ball), Muneeba Ali (17 from 19 balls, three fours), Omaima Sohail (10 from 14 balls, two fours) and Bismah Maroof (12 from 28 balls, one four) all fell in the 11th over, but Nida Dar’s unbeaten half-century kept Pakistan in the hunt.
Social media users have been lauding Bismah after she led the Pakistani contingent while carrying the flag at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2022.
