Noman Ali made history on the opening day of the second Test between Pakistan and the West Indies in Multan, becoming the first-ever Pakistan spinner to claim a Test hat-trick. The left-arm spinner tore through the West Indies batting lineup, cementing his place in cricketing history.
In the 11th over of the West Indies innings, Ali had Justin Greaves playing a loose shot. The ball spun and bounced, catching a thick edge that was safely held by Pakistan captain Babar Azam at gully.
Noman’s next breakthrough came when he trapped Tevin Imlach LBW. Imlach attempted a sweep, but Ali’s delivery beat him in length, striking him in front of the stumps. Ali completed his hat-trick when he induced a thick outside edge from Kevin Sinclair, with the ball flying straight into Babar Azam’s hands at gully.
One incredible feat!
Noman Ali now becomes the first-ever Pakistan spinner to take a Test hat-trick, joining an elite group of players. The last Pakistani cricketer to achieve a Test hat-trick was Naseem Shah, who accomplished the feat against Bangladesh in 2020.
Ali’s remarkable performance didn’t end there. He later claimed a second five-wicket haul in the ongoing series against the West Indies, further solidifying his position as the leading wicket-taker of the series.
