The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Sunday morning that Haris Rauf will be sidelined for the remainder of the upcoming first Test against England due to a strain. The player will be able to bat during the game, according to the PCB.
The right-arm pacer rolled over the ball while fielding on the opening day of the competition on Thursday, causing a strain on his right quad. On Friday, he received Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at the medical center.
During the current Test series against England, Rauf is one of four players making their international debuts for Pakistan. Along with the speedster, other debutants include the leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood, the batsman Saud Shakeel, and the pacer Mohammad Ali.
Pakistan has given Test caps to four players in a single game for the first time since 2003’s encounter in Karachi against Bangladesh.
Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Gul, Shabbir Ahmed, and Yasir Hameed made their international debuts during the Bangladesh Test almost two decades ago.
