Munir Akram as being the president of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) also ensured that all UN peacekeepers receive the Covid-19 vaccine “quickly and equitably”. He further added that it was important to overcome the spread of the deadly COVID-19 hitting the world economies.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a video message earlier.”With the promise of vaccines, we can see light at the end of the tunnel and the vaccines must be considered a global public good.”

Akram had stated in January that “the coronavirus pandemic has underscored the importance of upgrading health systems, especially in developing countries, to respond to infectious disease outbreaks.” He further added that“our response towards all epidemics, especially the one that engulfs us today, should be of solidarity and international cooperation.”

Furthermore, Pakistan has moreover called for a comprehensive reaction to overcome the challenge postured by the linkage between conflict and food security, within the UN. Speaking at a talk about within the Security Council  Akram also said that through concerted worldwide endeavors, we must address not only the symptoms but also basic causes.
