The initial schedule for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been confirmed, with Pakistan and India placed in the same group. The tournament, scheduled from June 4 to 30 in the United States and the West Indies, features 20 teams divided into four groups for the first round.
In Pakistan’s group, alongside India, are Ireland, Canada, and the hosts, the United States. Most matches in this group during the first round will be held in the United States.
Pakistan’s journey kicks off with a match against the USA on June 6, followed by the highly anticipated clash with arch-rivals India in New York on June 9. The team will then face Canada on June 11 in New York and Ireland on June 16 in Florida.
After the initial round, the top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eight round, divided into two groups.
The ICC has sent the schedule to cricket boards and broadcasters for feedback and approval, with the final schedule expected soon.
Due to time zone differences between the USA and the subcontinent, there’s a possibility of rescheduling the Pakistan-India match to June 8 to optimize viewership, considering the match’s afternoon start in New York would air late at night in Pakistan.
