Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation with Russia across various sectors, particularly in energy, trade, and investment, citing the long-standing friendly relations between the two nations.
In a meeting with Ambassador of the Russian Federation Albert P. Khorev, the prime minister conveyed heartfelt condolences for the lives lost in the recent Crocus City Hall attack near Moscow, affirming Pakistan’s solidarity with Russia during this difficult time.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of promptly convening the 9th session of the Inter-governmental Commission (IGC), scheduled to be held in Russia later this year. He urged Russian counterparts to send a delegation to Pakistan to explore avenues for enhancing trade and investment between the two countries.
Recalling their previous encounter at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Samarkand in 2022, the prime minister extended an invitation to President Putin to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience, expressing gratitude for the congratulatory message received from President Vladimir Putin on his re-election.
In response, the Russian ambassador reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan, expressing interest not only in energy, trade, and investment but also in fostering cooperation in education and culture.
Both nations are actively engaged in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), further highlighting the significance of their mutual collaboration and partnership.
