Pakistan won the Gamers8 Tekken 7 Nations Cup with a 3-2 victory over South Korea and will receive $500,000 from the $1 million USD prize fund for winning the event.
According to the specifications, a three-day mega event was conducted in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with teams from sixteen countries participating.
The Pakistani squad, which included Arslan Ash, Atif Butt, and Imran Khan, represented South Asia. The Pakistani team defeated South Korea 3-0 in the upper bracket finals, sending the Korean team to the lower bracket.
South Korea managed to win the Losers’ Finals and re-enter the grand finals, but it was Pakistan who would prevail once more.
Pakistan will get $500,000 of the $1 million prize money for winning the event, as well as the title of “World’s Greatest Tekken Team.”
Tournament Journey
Team Pakistan’s three players all performed admirably at the event, and the team was by far the most dominant, remaining in the top bracket.
Pakistan secured a perfect 3-0 record in the group stages and advanced for the playoffs, where they continued their outstanding performance, defeating the United Kingdom in the Semi-finals and South Korea in both the Winners’ Finals and Grand Finals.
While Arslan Ash won the Winners’ Finals, things did not appear to be going as well for Pakistan in the Grand Finals.
Ash, widely regarded as one of the top Tekken players in the world, lost all three of his grand finals bouts against Bae “Knee” Jae-Min.
The remainder of the Pakistani players, on the other hand, held strong and performed excellent performances, resulting to their triumph and a well-deserved prize of $500,000 from the $1 Million USD prize pool.
In addition to the main event, there was a supplementary 1v1 battle with teams from the Losers’ bracket. In this tournament, Team Germany triumphed, winning 3-0 versus Saudi Arabia and taking home the $50,000 USD prize.
