In a landmark achievement, athletes from Peshawar, Pakistan, made history at the MBW International Taekwondo Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The team secured an impressive tally of 21 medals, the highest ever for Pakistan at an international Taekwondo event. This record-breaking performance includes 7 gold, 6 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
Among the standout athletes, Vanya claimed gold in both Poomsae and Karogi and added a bronze in Freestyle Poomsae. Ian also shined, earning gold in Poomsae and Karogi, as well as silver in Pierre Poomsae. Mohammad Mustafa Afridi secured gold in both Karogi and Poomsae, alongside a bronze medal. Umaima clinched gold in Poomsae and silver in Pierre Poomsae.
Hisham took gold in Individual Poomsae and silver in Karogi, while Hania won gold in Poomsae and silver in Karogi. Other notable achievements include Imran Khan earning bronze in Karogi and Waqar Afridi securing bronze in Poomsae. Ahmad rounded off the medal haul with a silver in Poomsae.
Waqar Afridi, Secretary General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taekwondo Association and team coach, credited the team’s success to extensive preparation and relentless effort. He praised the athletes and coaches for their dedication, which led to this historic accomplishment.
