Pakistan’s boxing sensation, Muhammad Waseem, added another achievement to his stellar career on Saturday with a knockout win in Malta.
Competing in a Bantamweight Ranking Bout sanctioned by the World Boxing Federation (WBF), the 34-year-old dominated Georgian boxer Jaba Memishishi, securing a third-round knockout. This victory marks Waseem’s 13th professional win, with an impressive nine victories coming via knockout.
Waseem’s professional record now stands at 13-2 from 15 bouts.
The victory follows a challenging period for Waseem, who was previously denied a visa to Denmark, despite his standing as a two-time WBC silver champion. In an interview with a local news channel, Waseem voiced his frustration:
“I have been a world champion twice, yet they rejected my visa, claiming I would disappear if I went there. I travel worldwide and have been training with my coaches in London. I needed to be in Malta early to prepare for the upcoming world title fight,” he shared.
In August, the “Falcon” had expressed confidence ahead of his fight against South African opponent Sabelo, a fight he won convincingly.
Waseem emphasized the significance of his upcoming world title fight, adding, “The world title fight is crucial for me, and I don’t want to miss this opportunity.” He called on the Pakistani government, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the army chief to assist in securing his visa for future events.
