Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, will depart today for a five-day official visit to the UK, where he is set to engage with high-level British officials and the Pakistani diaspora, the Foreign Office announced.
During his stay, Dar will meet UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and hold talks with Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs, David Lammy. He will also engage with UK parliamentarians and members of the British-Pakistani community.
Pakistan and the UK share longstanding ties in trade, defense, and education. This visit is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to attract foreign investment and secure loan rollovers as the country navigates financial challenges and seeks approval for a $7 billion IMF bailout.
The IMF loan, agreed upon in July, awaits final approval pending assurances of necessary financing from Pakistan’s development partners.
