Pakistani IT firms are ready to make a significant impact at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) 2024 in Dubai, as they showcase their tech prowess over the course of the four-day event. The exhibition, which is one of the largest global tech shows, runs from October 14 to 18 and offers a prime opportunity for Pakistan to demonstrate its growing capabilities in the IT sector.
According to the Pakistani embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 24 top Pakistani exhibitors will participate in this year’s event, presenting their expertise to industry leaders, government officials, investors, and corporate buyers from around the world. The Pakistan government has secured a 156-square-meter exhibition space at the Dubai World Trade Center, highlighting the country’s ambition to strengthen its role in the global digital economy.
“This year’s participation underscores Pakistan’s rising influence in the global digital landscape and reaffirms its position as a key player in IT innovation,” the Pakistani embassy in Abu Dhabi said in a statement.
Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, expressed pride in Pakistan being named ‘Tech Destination of the Year 2024’ by GITEX Global. He emphasized that the recognition reflects Pakistan’s ongoing advancements in the IT and tech industries.
“This accolade reinforces Pakistan’s emergence as a hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Tirmizi.
Sajjad Mustafa Syed, chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), explained that Pakistan was honored with the title due to its strong presence in previous GITEX editions. He noted that the 2024 event features participation from 180 countries, with over 200,000 buyers of IT services, 65,000 top-level executives, and 7,000 multinational companies from the IT and allied industries. Pakistani firms are expected to generate business leads of up to $500 million at the event.
GITEX Global has established itself as a premier platform that connects global tech giants, governments, start-ups, and investors, fostering transformative innovations. Pakistan’s active role in the exhibition reflects its dedication to advancing its digital economy and expanding its global reach in the technology sector.
