Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Türkiye on Tuesday, invited by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to participate in an international conference. The discussions will address several pressing issues, including security and the prevention of human trafficking.
Both nations have expressed growing concerns over the increase in human trafficking, especially involving vulnerable migrants attempting to illegally cross into Europe. Many Pakistanis, facing economic uncertainty, have become victims of traffickers, with some tragically losing their lives while navigating treacherous sea routes in unsafe boats.
Given that Türkiye serves as a crucial transit route for individuals seeking to reach Europe without official channels, both countries are working to strengthen their cooperation on this matter. Security collaboration remains a vital focus, particularly in countering transnational militant networks that pose threats to regional stability.
The Interior Ministry stated, “Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will represent Pakistan at this significant international conference in Istanbul, where he will meet with Turkish cabinet ministers and top leadership.” The visit aims to promote sustainable bilateral cooperation, with talks expected to enhance collaboration in border management, security, and the fight against human trafficking.
Türkiye and Pakistan maintain strong diplomatic ties, bolstered by mutual support on various regional and international issues. Their defense collaboration includes substantial joint ventures, such as Türkiye’s modernization of Pakistan’s submarines and the construction of MILGEM-class corvettes for the Pakistan Navy, further reflecting their deepening strategic partnership.
