British boxer of Pakistani descent, Hamzah Sheeraz, claimed the European middleweight title on September 21, 2024, after defeating Tyler Denny at Wembley Stadium, London.
Sheeraz, 25, delivered a stunning performance, flooring Denny with a swift left hook in the opening seconds of the first round. He sealed his victory with another powerful headshot in the second round, leading the referee to stop the fight. This win marks Sheeraz’s 15th consecutive stoppage, improving his record to an impressive 21-0 with 17 knockouts, solidifying his position as one of British boxing’s rising world title contenders.
“I’m a humble man, but this feels great. A massive thank you to everyone who supported me,” Sheeraz said after the fight. He credited his team for the preparation, adding, “They got me here for a reason, and I delivered.”
Though Denny fought back by operating low and attempting to bring the fight inside, Sheeraz maintained control, offering few openings. A sharp combination from Sheeraz sent Denny to the canvas once again, prompting referee Mark Bates to end the bout, to the dismay of the defending champion.
“I’m done calling for world title fights,” Sheeraz confidently stated. “Whoever is put in the ring with me, I’ll knock them out. Fighting here means everything to me.”
