According to a survey by Data Darbar, a private markets intelligence platform, Pakistanis downloaded 35.4% more applications in 2022 compared to the year before, making it the world’s fastest-growing app market.
The growth rate, which was 26.8 percent in 2021 and shot up to 35.4 percent last year, was nearly three times that of China, the next nation on the list. India, Mexico, and Indonesia were the next three nations with growth rates that were less than 10%.
However, Pakistan rose three spots from the year before to place ninth overall. With the exception of Indonesia, Pakistan outperformed all comparable markets with 3.5 billion downloads. The Southeast Asian country has the most publishers and domestically produced apps, according to other data, which supported the trend, the research said.
According to the research, Pakistanis utilized mobile apps for 161 billion hours in 2022, ranking the nation sixth globally.
In terms of the total number of outstanding active apps created by local publishers, Pakistan was only surpassed by Indonesia. However, only a small number of locally created apps reach Pakistan’s top ranks in terms of popularity and usage.
The most downloaded app was WhatsApp Business, which was followed by TikTok, Capcut, WhatsApp Messenger, Snapchat, and WhatsApp Messenger. Easypaisa was the most downloaded locally created app, followed by Jazz, Jazz Cash, Zong, and Universal Remote TV.
