Pakistan’s top-ranked squash player, Asim Khan, has started his journey at the London Open squash tournament on a high note, securing a decisive victory over New Zealand’s Temwa Chileshe in the opening round.
Asim, currently ranked 60th in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) world rankings, dominated the match with straight-game scores of 11-9, 11-6, and 11-15. He maintained control throughout, showing sharp form and skillfully countering Chileshe’s moves. While the first two games were comfortable wins, Asim had to dig deep in the third game, ultimately coming out on top after a challenging battle.
His strong performance in this PSA World Tour Copper event signals a promising start as he aims to advance further. In the next round, Asim is set to face top-seeded Auguste Dussourd of France, a significant challenge on his path.
The London Open tournament boasts a prize pool of $33,000, offering Asim an opportunity not only to showcase his skills but also to improve his international ranking and bring pride to Pakistan.
