Pakistan’s electricity shortage has surpassed 6,160 megawatts (MW), resulting in power disruptions lasting up to ten hours.

According to data, the country’s electricity demand has risen to 26,700 megawatts, while power supply stands at 20,540 megawatts. The shortage has resulted in power disruptions lasting up to ten hours across the country.

According to sources, Pakistan generates 7,300MW of electricity from IPPs and 8,000MW from hydropower.

Atomic power stations generate 3,200 megawatts of electricity, while government-owned thermal power plants generate 570MW.

According to sources, the wind power generators supply 1,200MW to the National Grid.

Previously, it was revealed that several Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) cargoes have arrived in Pakistan, providing much-needed respite to the country’s energy crisis.

Officials from the petroleum industry have verified that including RLNG in the gas, system was critical in resolving the situation.

According to petroleum officials, including RLNG in the petrol system has been a game changer.
