Usman Riaz’s The Glassworker is one of eight feature films from around the world selected for the Work In Progress category at the Annecy International Animation Festival in France in 2022.
The Glassworker is an original story about young Vincent and his father Tomas, who operate the country’s greatest glass studio and find their lives upended by the coming war, produced by Usman Riaz’s Mano Animation Studios.
The Glassworker is up there with Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse, Klaus, and How to Train Your Dragon 2 as recent outstanding animated movies.
The Annecy Film Festival is well-known across the world, and it is always looking for noteworthy animation. The films on the Work in Progress list have a lot of promise for accolades and box office success in the future.
With a median age of 27 and a female-dominated team of 52 percent, the Mano Animation company brought together young and creative artists.
It’s been described as a “surprising” project that encourages animation variety. Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, Peru, Argentina, the United States, and the United Kingdom have all joined Mano Animation’s worldwide collaborative network.
“It is an honor to represent Pakistan in Annecy 2022,” said Usman Riaz, the feature film’s director. Only 8 exceptional feature films from across the world are chosen for Annecy’s “Work in Progress.”
“It’s humbling to have our debut feature film, The Glassworker, on the same platform as so many incredible and inspiring animated films that have come before us,” Usman Riaz said.
