In a notable achievement, Pakistan’s junior squash player, Huzaifa Ibrahim, has advanced to the final of the Under-19 category at the 2023 United States Junior Open Squash Championships held in Philadelphia, USA.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Ibrahim secured a victory against Guido Lindner from the Netherlands with a score of 11-6, 11-8, and 14-12. In the quarterfinals, he faced off against Juan Irisarri of Columbia.
The competition’s final will see Ibrahim competing against Rishi Srivastava from the USA. The match is scheduled for December 20, 2023, at 11 AM (Pakistan time). Currently, Srivastava holds the top rank among U-19 squash players.
Huzaifa Ibrahim follows in the footsteps of his senior, Hamza Khan, who claimed victory in the same event in 2021 and is the reigning World Junior Squash Champion. Hamza Khan also emerged as the winner of the US event in 2021.
Notably, Huzaifa Ibrahim previously won the Under-15 event at the United States Junior Open Squash Championship in 2019. Now, he aims to continue the legacy by clinching victories in both the U-15 and U-19 categories.
