Shaheen Shah Afridi, a top pace bowler in Pakistan, expressed his excitement to return to play for the Lahore Qalandars in the upcoming 8th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Afridi was the captain when the Qalandars ended their championship drought, defeating the Multan Sultans by 42 runs in the PSL 7 final. In preparation for PSL 8, the defending champions played a warm-up match against PDP Class of 22 at the Gymkhana Cricket Ground in Lahore. Afridi took to Twitter to share pictures of the practice match and wrote, “Excited to be back on the field! Warming up with my Lahore Qalandars family.”
During the match, Afridi continued his trademark style and got a wicket in his first over.
Afridi has been absent from competitive cricket and will make his return on February 13 as the Qalandars face off against the Multan Sultans in the first match of PSL 8 at the Multan Cricket Stadium, following an opening ceremony.
