Pakistan’s textile exports experienced a notable surge of 20 percent in February 2024 compared to the same period last year, as indicated by data released by the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) on Tuesday.
The data revealed that Pakistan’s textile product exports reached $1.41 billion in February, marking a substantial increase of 19.7 percent from $1.18 billion in February 2023.
This significant growth represents the third consecutive month of positive performance for the textile sector, which stands as a pivotal pillar of the country’s exports, contributing to more than half of the total export revenue and serving as a crucial source of foreign exchange.
However, despite this recent surge, textile exports for the first eight months of the fiscal year 2023-2024, starting from July, still showed a 1 percent decrease year-on-year, standing at $11.15 billion.
