More than 100 children in Parachinar have tragically lost their lives due to a lack of medical facilities caused by road closures that have lasted over two and a half months.
The ongoing road blockade has left residents without access to food, medicine, and healthcare. Protests have erupted, with citizens demanding immediate action to reopen the roads. Residents have been protesting against the closure for six consecutive days.
Chairman of Upper Kurram Tehsil, Agha Muzamil, stated that people are struggling to meet basic needs like food and healthcare. Tragically, over 100 children have died because they couldn’t get medical help.
In response, Kurram’s Deputy Commissioner said that a Grand Jirga has arrived to mediate peace talks aimed at resolving the tribal conflict causing the blockade.
Demonstrations have also been held in Karachi and Lahore to show solidarity with Parachinar residents and to raise awareness about the crisis.
The government has approved a special police force to secure Parachinar Road and is working towards a lasting solution to the tribal dispute, which has caused over 100 deaths and disrupted life for months.
