Pakistan will host the Asia Cup in September of this year. However, due to political tensions between the two countries, India has refused to send a team to Pakistan for the event.
To resolve the impasse, Pakistan proposed a hybrid plan for the Asia Cup at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) conference, in which other countries would play their matches in Pakistan while the Indian team would play their matches elsewhere.
When PCB Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi proposed the hybrid model last month, ACC President Jay Shah exhibited an interest in it, but when he returned to India, he opposed it.
