Star opener Sharjeel Khan and senior all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez were recalled to the T20 squad while emerging players Shahnawaz Dhani and Zahid Mahmood included in the test team squad. Chief selector Muhammad Wasim announced the players on Friday for upcoming South Africa and Zimbabwe series beginning from March 26.
Leg-spinning all-rounder Shadab Khan holded his position in the ODI and T20 squads as vice-captain.
The Chief Selector Muhammad Wasim said that the 31-year-old T20 squad star Sharjeel was selected following his impressive run in domestic cricket. The batsman scored 231 runs in the National T20 Cup and was the third-highest runs-scorer with 200 runs in the five PSL 2021 matches before the event was postponed.
On the other hand, emerging player Dahani was selected in the 20-member Test squad. While the player performed well in the recent PSL matches for his team Multan Sultans where he got nine wickets in four games, his first-class record is average at best.
