The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains unwavering in its determination to host all matches of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Adhering to the slogan “Pakistan’s event, in Pakistan,” the PCB is making substantial investments to upgrade stadiums across three venues, ensuring readiness for the tournament.
Despite discussions about potential alternatives, including a Hybrid Model and Plan B, the PCB is steadfast in its preparations. Sources within the board emphasize that devising contingency plans is the responsibility of the International Cricket Council (ICC), not Pakistan.
PCB insiders argue that India’s reluctance to play in Pakistan is weak, considering all other participating teams have previously played in the country. If India refuses to come to Pakistan, the PCB plans to reciprocate by not participating in the 2026 T20 World Cup in India.
The PCB’s firm stance is expected to be a significant point of discussion at the upcoming ICC meeting. Unlike previous years, the board is adopting a tougher position, making it challenging for matches to be relocated from Pakistan in 2024.
