KARACHI: The Sindh government has completed the test run of the Peoples Bus Service project in Karachi without any hiccup.
With hopes to launch the commercial operation of the first of the total seven routes of the Peoples Bus Service project, the Sindh government on Saturday began the test of the buses imported from China which completed over a 29-kilometer journey without any hiccup.
The 140 buses, were recently imported from the China.
Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon along with his colleagues of the provincial cabinet Saeed Ghani and Waqar Mehdi took a ride from Model Colony on Sharea Faisal that ended at Avari Tower.
“Out of the total of 250 buses 140 have arrived and the consignment of the rest of the vehicles is expected to arrive soon. Among these 250 buses, 240 buses would be running in Karachi while the remaining 10 buses would run in Larkana.”
Senator Saeed Ghani shared a picture while trail run of people bus services.
Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the buses would be run and maintained by the National Radio Transmission Company (NRTC) for the next 12 years.
“In the first phase of the project, buses will start operating on two routes of Karachi,” he said, adding that CM Murad Ali Shah will inaugurate the project soon.
The momentum got further pace after Mr. Memon took charge as transport minister last month and took a personal interest in completing several transport-related tasks pending for the past several months in his ministry within weeks.
Muhammad Ramzan Chhipa appreciated the project in his tweet.
