Prime Minister Imran Khan while speaking at a launching ceremony of a housing scheme under the Punjab Peri-Urban Low-Cost Housing Scheme on Thursday. He stated the government launched the housing scheme so that salaried citizens and those from the working class can afford houses for themselves.
He went on to say that a nation cannot advance unless it strives to improve the lives of the poor and underprivileged.
He further added that the passage of the foreclosure law had allowed banks to offer loans to the general public.
He said that the government established the housing scheme in order for salaried and working-class citizens to be able to purchase homes for themselves.
He said that previous governments had never considered providing low-cost accommodation for the poor. He believes that if Pakistan’s housing sector grows, it will have a positive impact on other industries.
“Thirty sectors are also related to the housing sector,” he said, adding that once the houses are built, people would seek services from other sectors, benefiting Pakistan’s economy.
