The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted bail to former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a judicial complex attack case on Friday.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has applied for bail in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in a judicial complex attack case.
The PTI president appeared before ATC judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, who granted bail to former CM Pervaiz Elahi in exchange for a Rs 20,000 surety bond.
During the hearing, ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain remarked that nothing significant had been collected from Chaudhry Parvez Elahi during his remand.
As a result, Judge Zulqarnain ruled that no further investigation into Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s role in the case be conducted.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor, Raja Naveed, emphasised that the rules under which the FIR against Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was filed are non-bailable.
However, the court noted that Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s name was not included in the FIR, raising issues about the foundation for the former Chief Minister of Punjab’s arrest.
Naveed headed on to say that the arrest was carried out based on information provided by the informant rather than an FIR.
The judge heard both sides’ arguments and decided to release Pervaiz Elahi on bail while writing the verdict in open court, ensuring transparency and allowing for a complete review of the case.
